Arakelots Monastery and Deghdzut Monastery
September 26, 2023From Dilijan to Parz Lake
September 26, 2023Coming to Armenia and not visiting the Geghama Mountains is a big mistake. And being in the Geghama Mountains and not climbing Mount Azhdahak is the biggest mistake. This mountain with a mythical name has attracted many with its colors and dragon-like appearance, and the crater lake at the top invites swimming at this mountain height, which, of course, is not easy, given the cold. But if you like to swim in mountain lakes, then we suggest you climb Azhdahak from Lake Akna, where you can also swim. Azhdahak is located on the border of Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions, the highest peak of the Geghama Mountains is 3597 meters. There are many routes for climbing Azhdahak, here we offer you an option of medium difficulty. From the village of Sevaberd we will go up to Aknalich by all-terrain vehicle, put up a tent and spend the night on the shore of the lake at an altitude of 3000 m. The next morning we will go to Mount Azhdahak. Return along the same route. After returning, we will pack up the tents and return.
Route length: 20km
Elevation: 650m
Regions: Gegharquniq, Kotayq
